my birthday's on Halloween

I got an email from my father on November 1st which read, "Happy Birthday".
I wrote back with, "my birthday's on October 31st."

Four years with no word. Then, this summer, my sister and I got an email saying that he was blocking our email addresses, phone numbers, would return any letters from us--the only way we can speak with him again is if we go to IOWA in person and talk to him about WHY WE HAVEN'T CONTACTED HIM IN SO MANY YEARS.

1) We are the children, you are the adult.
2) You left us when we were 13/14 years old to move halfway across the country to start a new family with a woman you knew for TWO WEEKS, and never looked back.
3) Remember that Christmas you sent us a box of your new wife's old clothes as a gift?
4) You are (hopefully it's "were", but I wouldn't know) a drunk, and you make me uncomfortable.
5) The last time we spoke was Kate's graduation, June 6, 2004. A couple weeks later I sent you a card for Father's Day, which, from what I can tell, your wife intercepted and threw in the garbage. You believed her over me; you let her convince you that I didn't care enough to send you a card for Father's Day, and burned me for it.
6) You changed your health insurance without informing me, someone on your health plan, and I continued to go about medical business as usual, ie regular gynocologist & dental visits, which eventually left me with over $1,000 in medical bills because I was unknowingly uninsured.
7) You came to Falmouth during the Summer 2008, only to take my mother to court so you could get out of paying for the rest of my education and any medical bills. You used my myspace profile to defame my character; you told the judge that I was a drug addict because of minimal pot references, and that that's why I haven't graduated from college yet, when we all know that the ONLY reason I have not graduated yet is because you failed to pay and my account was put on hold. We had to come up with $4,000 to pay off my junior year before I could finish my education.
8) Oh yea, you came to Falmouth during the Summer 2008 and never tried to contact me.

I hope that his new kids, Paige, Jessica, Amanda, & Kyle, get the father out of him that we missed.

[there is a massacre]

there is a massacre secluded to the corner,
invalids thrown atop one another in a heap.
fifteen bodies lie charred
with limbs splayed, bodies burned,
and no one left to mourn them.

picked off one by one out of the blonde forest, hiding
tics tried to evade my tweezer, but to no avail.
I conquered, overcame!
I put them, live and crawling,
into the flame, 'til POP!
